What is the mechanism of mamba (Dendroaspis spp.) venom toxicity?
α-neurotoxins block postsynaptic nicotinic receptors at the neuromuscular junction, dendrotoxins inhibit voltage-dependent potassium channels which releases acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction causing a depolarizing effect, fasciculins act as acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, and calciseptine inhibits L-type calcium channels.
