The Weapons of Mass Destruction Special Interest Section will regularly provide a list of timely abstracts of interest to our members. While not exhaustive, every effort will be made to provide a valuable cross section of information from basic science to applied clinical care and preparedness.

About Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Special Interest Section
Toxicologists are uniquely positioned as a well trained, well organized, highly integrated group of professionals with the expertise and the community and government relationships to provide guidance and leadership for planning and responding to terrorism. The WMD special interest section provides a forum and entity for toxicologists to come together to share their expertise and acquire greater knowledge about this critical issue. The mission of the WMD special interest section is to promote and enhance WMD preparedness as it pertains to the use of toxicants, hazardous materials, weapons designed for mass destruction or assassination and the intentional use of poisons. Allied issues in the science of WMD including epidemiology, basic science, antidote development, toxic mechanisms, toxiokinetics, analytical chemistry, diagnostic considerations, global trends and emerging threats will be discussed.
