About the BRIDGES Special Interest Section
BRIDGES stands for:
Building Relationships In Dialogue for Growth, Education, and Support in Toxicology.
This new name reflects our continued commitment to fostering connections, community, innovation, and meaningful conversations within the field of toxicology. The section aims to bring together individuals from all backgrounds to advance inclusivity and excellence in the field of toxicology, while improving patient care through greater cultural knowledge, access, opportunity, and understanding.
Goals of BRIDGES:
- Build a supportive network: Develop a community of individuals from various toxicology backgrounds and disciplines who can collaborate on educational resources, mentorship, and professional support.
- Foster representation: Increase visibility and leadership opportunities for underrepresented individuals and disciplines across toxicology roles, including within research, education, speaking opportunities, and clinical practice, to enhance heterogeneity in the toxicology field.
- Encourage open dialogue: Create safe spaces for respectful conversations about challenges, perspectives, and opportunities within the field of clinical toxicology.
- Support collaboration: Partner with national and international toxicology organizations to share ideas and best practices for inclusive care and professional and membership development.
- Mentorship and member development: Promote mentorship opportunities that empower members to grow personally and professionally within the clinical toxicology field and AACT organization.
- Educational initiatives: Develop and share educational resources to improve toxicologists’ and AACT members’ competency in providing equitable and proper care to diverse patient populations, substances/exposures, and/or scenarios.
- Recognize achievements: Highlight and celebrate research, leadership, scholarship, and contributions by various toxicologists and membership, including awards and speaking opportunities at professional events.
