According to the cited reference, “Several cases of esophagitis with esophageal erosions or ulcerations associated with the use of alendronate were reported early on through post-marketing surveillance of the drug.” Furthermore, “patients with the more severe esophageal complications swallowed alendronate with little or no water, lay down during or shortly after ingestion of the tablet…”
