The Director of the Central Ohio Poison Center (COPC) is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the activities of the COPC. The director will be competent in all areas of poisoning treatment, prevention and education. The COPC provides poisoning information and education to the public and health care professionals as well as training for medical and allied health students. The director should demonstrate competencies in providing age appropriate care and services to patients of all ages and all levels of education. In conjunction with the Medical Director, the Director is responsible for managing the development of all protocols and procedures related to patient care.
The Central Ohio Poison Center closely collaborates with the department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Ohio State University, the Ohio department of health, our sister center in Ohio (the Cincinnati drug and poison Information center), the Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and numerous other organizations. There is a supportive and active research/teaching component with the center, producing more than 60 peer reviewed research publications in the last 5 years.
