Elevated urine orotic acid is seen with several inborn errors of metabolism, including those of the urea cycle. Elevated urine orotic acid excretion may also be seen as a result of what drugs or supplements?
Allopurinol, by inhibiting pyrimidine synthesis, leads to increased urine excretion of orotic acid. Supplements that are the salts of orotic acid, such as calcium orotate, can also result in this.
