Isotonitazene has been identified in 8 post-mortem blood specimens in the Mid-West of the US since August 2019. Isonitazene is a benzimidazole opioid and has a reported potency of 1.8 times greater than hydromorphone at the mu-opioid receptor. (CFSRE Public Health Alert.
