What is Pibloktoq?
Pibloktoq, or “Artic Hysteria” is a “culture bound syndrome” of behavioral disturbance that has been proposed to have origins in environmental, nutritional, and psychological origins. The author of the cited refrence argues that cultural or social factors may be the true origin of the ill defined syndrome.
