Mad About Manganese: Medical Toxicologists and Municipal Water Quality Standards

Description:
This webinar will review the toxicologic, epidemiologic, and regulatory principles used in deriving public health limits for manganese in municipal drinking water supplies. Participants will examine the neurotoxicity of chronic manganese exposure, interpretation of toxicologic “points of departure,” and the translation of scientific data into water quality criteria and public health guidance values. The session will emphasize the role of medical toxicologists in environmental risk assessment, public communication, and interpretation of drinking water standards relevant to patient care and community health.
