SARMs to Harm: Ostarine-associated dyslipidemia and HPTA-axis suppression.
Description:
This session uses ostarine as a case study to clarify what “selective” means in selective androgen receptor modulators and where that selectivity breaks down in real-world use. We will review harms associated with SARMs, with particular attention to the loss of functional selectivity at commonly used recreational doses and the resulting unintended androgenic effects across multiple tissues. The session will also cover tissue-specific androgen physiology and how these mechanisms translate into predictable clinical effects and adverse outcomes. Finally, we will summarize the history of pharmaceutical SARM development and the reasons many programs were ultimately discontinued. Attendees should expect an evidence-based overview focused on risk recognition and clinical counseling.
