Title:
Lipid emulsion therapy during management of the critically-ill poisoned patient: a prospective cohort study

Description:
This session examines intravenous lipid emulsion therapy as a rescue intervention in critically poisoned patients, drawing on findings from a prospective cohort study to ground the discussion in real-world clinical evidence. Participants will explore the proposed mechanisms by which lipid emulsion may counteract severe poisoning, evaluate the cohort study’s design and methods with attention to both its contributions and its limitations, and consider how the evidence translates to bedside decision-making in toxicology practice. By the end of the session, clinicians will be better equipped to assess when lipid emulsion therapy may be appropriate and how to weigh the available evidence in high-stakes clinical scenarios.
