Description
Care for pilots and astronauts currently resides primarily within the realm of flight surgeons in specific government departments. However, the definitive care facilities that receive pilots or astronauts, or flight surgeons themselves, may reach out to poison centers and toxicologists to discuss the care of patients exposed to the environmental hazards of space or the many compounds used to enable spaceflight. This talk intends to review current occupational and environmental hazards that face individuals that work within the aerospace fields, and briefly touch on future hazards that a toxicologist may need to be aware of with expanding human spaceflight.
