Emergency Medicine/Medical Toxicologist – Faculty Opportunity

Temple University School of Medicine (TUSM), Department of Emergency Medicine announces the search for a BC/BE emergency medicine physician to become a part of their Faculty.
The selected incumbent will provide both clinical service in the ED and provide ad hoc consultative support for toxicology patients at Temple University Hospital. Additionally, the physician will create and deliver emergency medicine toxicology courses and participated in the education of Temples students and medical trainees.
Temple University’s Department of Emergency Medicine is comprised of 52 board certified emergency medicine physicians and 38 emergency medicine residents who provide clinical care at both the University hospital and community sites. The total volume cared for exceeds 180,000 patients. The University site is a Level 1 trauma center, burn center and a receiving facility for critically ill patients from local community emergency departments. A state of the art EMR is in place and ultrasound is a key part of the daily practice. The Department of Emergency Medicine has significant involvement in the education of students from the Temple University School of Medicine ranging from participation in the introduction to the patient courses, direction of the simulation laboratory, multiple electives (EMS, US, international experiences), a fourth Year clerkship and direction of the capstone course for graduating students. The Department also offers fellowships in Ultrasound.
Temple University’s Division of Medical Toxicology is small and looking to expand. The division was started in 2016 and is now a fully integrated hospital service. The division runs an active resident rotation in medical toxicology and an inpatient toxicology consulting service. There is ample opportunity to get involved in both inpatient and outpatient addiction medicine in this burgeoning field at Temple University. The division runs a busy, active inpatient addiction medicine service and is involved in an outpatient suboxone program. Applicants with interest in addiction medicine are strongly preferred.
Candidate Qualifications:
Active board certification or board eligibility in Emergency Medicine.
Completion of an accredited residency in Emergency Medicine and fellowship training in Medical Toxicology.
Commitment to resident and student education.
Prior experience or training in an urban, level 1 trauma center preferred but, not required.
