Description

Disasters, including natural and human-caused, can happen at any time. Education and training are key aspects of general preparedness for all health care professionals. Proactive preparedness measures can mitigate the effects of disasters. In addition, toxicologists may be involved in planning and/or response as medical/technical specialists for disasters involving WMD and other chemical agents. Dr. Terpin will discuss the role of health care in disaster response and recovery using historical events to highlight lessons learned. He will share his knowledge and perspective gained from 5 decades of experience in disaster preparedness.
