SUMMARY:AACT Section Webinar: Radiation
DESCRIPTION:AACT Section Webinar: Radiation\nRegister Now!\nTitle:\nWorld Cup Preparation and Medical Countermeasure Update\n \nDescription:\nRadiation emergencies are low-frequency\, high impact events. This makes education and preparation for disaster response and medical treatments crucial for saving lives. This webinar will discuss important concepts of both radiation readiness as well as discuss recent studies that compare adult and pediatric indications and dosing for medical countermeasures\, including cytokines. Presenters will use the upcoming FIFA world cup to discuss concepts and resources to prepare medical toxicologists in the event of a radiation emergency. \nPresenters:\nFrank Walter MD\, FACEP\, FACMT\, FAACT\nTenured Professor of Emergency Medicine\, University of Arizona College of Medicine\n \nZiad Kazzi\, MD\, FAAEM\, FACEP\, FACMT\, FAACT\nProfessor of Emergency Medicine\, Emory University \nModerators:\nJoseph Ebersole\, MD\nAssistant Professor of Emergency Medicine\, Emory University \nEmily Kiernan\, DO\nAssociate Professor of Emergency Medicine\, Emory University

SUMMARY:AACT Section Webinar: Trainee and Student
DESCRIPTION:AACT Section Webinar: Trainee and Student\nRegister Now!\n\n💻 Format: Virtual\n💰 Cost: Free for AACT members | $20 for non-members \n  \nTitle:\nTo Dialyze or Not to Dialyze: The SILENT Dilemma of Lithium Toxicity\n \nDescription:\nSyndrome of Irreversible Lithium-Effectuated Neurotoxicity (SILENT) is a rare and poorly understood complication of lithium toxicity\, defined by the persistence of neurologic sequelae for more than two months after discontinuation of lithium. While aggressive and rapid lithium removal with dialysis has been proposed as a strategy to prevent SILENT\, evidence is mixed and may even caution against over-utilization of rapid elimination methods. This presentation aims to review the current literature on SILENT and the long-term neurologic effects of lithium toxicity\, as well as review proposed strategies to mitigate its risk\, with particular emphasis on the role of dialysis. \nPresenter:\nTiana Patriarca\, PharmD\nAlabama Poison Information Center\n \nModerators:\nMonica Thacker\, MD\nHarvard Medical School/Boston Children’s Hospital\n \nMichael Keenan\, MD\nSUNY Upstate Medical University; Upstate Poison Center \n\nJoint Accreditation Statement\nIn support of improving patient care\, this activity has been planned and implemented by Amedco LLCand American Academy of Clinical Toxicology. Amedco LLC is jointly accredited by the AccreditationCouncil for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)\, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education(ACPE)\, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)\, to provide continuing education forthe healthcare team. \nAmedco Joint Accreditation Provider Number: 4008163 \nProfessions in scope for this activity are listed below. \nPhysicians\nAmedco LLC designates this live activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits for physicians.
