Goal of the Forensic Toxicology Special Interest Group (ForTSIG):
The goal of the Forensic Toxicology Special Interest Group (ForTSIG) is to provide
a membersí forum for the discussion of ideas and problems as they relate to forensic
topics in clinical toxicology. This forum allows members to share their experience
and expertise with other members on issues such as analytical challenges, human performance
testing, postmortem data interpretation and other areas of forensic interest. Such
discussion will provide an increased breadth and depth to the immediately available
forensic toxicology knowledge base within AACT as well as foster collaborative research
in forensic toxicology.
Activities of the SPIG includes:
- Organizing periodic symposia on various forensic topics at regional and/or national
meetings such as the NACCT
- Providing a network of experience and expertise on a wide array of forensic toxicology
topics
- Encourage intellectual discussion and scholarly collaboration in forensic toxicology
between SIG members
- Act as a liaison between AACT and forensic organizations on issues relating to
forensic toxicology
- Serve as a professional resource for poison centers in areas of forensic toxicology
- Provide a mechanism for dissemination of important information regarding forensic
toxicology to the AACT as a whole
